It’s Ric-diculous!
Hello, pals!
We’ve been busy at Aloud HQ over the last two weeks. The biggest news is Henry and I have been going over to Jago’s to record vocals at Shabby Road on the tracks that will end up on our next album.
It’s been a minute since I’ve sat with them and listened. I was feeling a bit disconnected from them , what with the big time gap in recording, but revisiting them made me fall in love all over again.
We tracked vocals for songs you will one day be familiar with: “When the Winds Don’t Blow Our Way,” “The Same Mistakes,” “The Matador,” “Revelers at the Future’s Gate,” “The Barrel of a Gun,” and “Coffee for One.”
Now things are starting to come together and we’re making plans to bring in some friends for guest appearances. With over 20 songs there will be many opportunities for collaborations.
Henry and I are also now the proud owners of Rickenbacker guitars. Henry’s got a 360/12 (12-string jangles!) and I’ve got a 330 (think Pete Townsend early Who).
I’m a firm believer that new guitars come with new songs in them from Day One, so it is no surprise that two new songs emerged in the last week.

In the last newsletter Henry mentioned our photo shoot with Tammie Valer.
I’m happy to say we got the photos back last weekend and we’re delightfully pleased (as always) with them.
We did our usual moody lighting and moody expressions posing as well as a sort of prop-based idea I’d come up with just to do something a bit different.
Here’s a peek 👀

This weekend sees Henry and I working on some music again though probably it will be some string parts. We’ll nail down another recording session next week before we fly out to see my family for a bit. Then it’s back to work.
Cheers,
Jen
